LA Galaxy Play for MLS Cup Championship
On Sunday, November 20th, the Los Angeles Galaxy will face the Houston Dynamo for the MLS Cup championship at the Home Depot Center, home to both the Galaxy and Athletes’ Performance’s California facility.
The Galaxy won the Western conference in the regular season, the Supporters’ Shield for the best record in MLS, and the Western Conference championship over Real Salt Lake. They'll be the first team to play in the MLS Cup final at their home stadium, where they are unbeaten in 2011.
Athletes’ Performance has been supporting the Galaxy with integrated performance training, physical therapy, and nutrition services since the preseason, and are excited and honored to continue preparing the team as they try and capture their first MLS title since 2005.
“We look at this game like any other in terms of our approach and preparation,“ said Ben Yauss, the Athletes’ Performance specialist who serves as the Galaxy’s strength and conditioning coach. “Early in the week is fast-paced with short, sharp, high-intensity games and we spend the bulk of our time in the gym. As we get closer to game day, we’ll taper the guys down in intensity and volume so that they're fresh going into the game and ready to leave it all on the pitch for the last match.”
Join us in cheering on the Galaxy on Sunday, November 20th, at 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN and learn more about how Athletes’ Performance has supported the team all season in the Galaxy Fitness Insider. Cheer on the Galaxy with us on Twitter for your chance at winning an Athletes' Performance shirt! Contest details here.
