EXOS-Powered Germany Wins 2014 World Cup Title

Congratulations to Germany on winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup title with a 1-0 victory over Argentina. EXOS, the official performance training partner of Germany, has been supporting the team throughout their World Cup journey, through qualifying, and in Brazil with EXOS specialists Mark Verstegen (EXOS’ founder), Shad Forsythe, Darcy Norman, and Benjamin Kugel.

After winning Group G with wins over Portugal (4-0), the United States (1-0), and a draw with Ghana (2-2), Germany defeated Algeria 2-1 in the round of 16, beat France 1-0 in the quarterfinals, and eliminated Brazil with a 7-1 victory in the semifinals before their title-clinching win over Argentina.

After advancing to a record fourth consecutive World Cup semifinal and third straight semifinal appearance supported by EXOS, Germany's impressive and historic 7-1 victory over the host team, Brazil, has led them to their first FIFA World Cup final since 2002, where they'll face Argentina. After winning Group G, Germany defeated Algeria 2-1 in the round of 16 and beat France 1-0 in the quarterfinals before their semifinal victory over Brazil. 

The final will be played on Sunday, July 13, at 3 p.m. EST in Rio de Janeiro.

As a fitness coach with the German men's national team and EXOS since 2010, Benjamin Kugel's made his mark with both the EXOS team and the Germany players. In 2013, he took his career one step further and accepted the role as head of performance for German club team FC Köln. After just one year under Kugel's guidance, FC Köln won the 2nd division Bundesliga league title and will move up to the top Bundesliga division next season.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup is set to kick off today as the host nation and one of the tournament's favorites, Brazil, faces off against Croatia.

Germany, who is being supported by EXOS for the third straight World Cup finals, begins its Group G play on Monday, June 16th, at 3 p.m. EST against Portugal. EXOS team members have been supporting Germany's players and staff throughout the World Cup qualifying cycle and build up to the tournament and will continue supporting the team's integrated performance training and recovery strategies throughout the tournament.

A Record 64 EXOS-Supported Athletes Selected in the 2014 NFL Draft

EXOS is proud to have supported a record 64 athletes selected in the 2014 NFL Draft, which is equal to 25% of this year's entire NFL Draft class and breaks EXOS' previous record of 63 set in the 2012 NFL Draft. The 64 athletes drafted began when Jadeveon Clowney was taken as the first overall pick by the Houston Texans and finished when Lavelle Westbrooks was selected as the 252nd overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals. EXOS has now supported 523 total NFL Draft picks since 2001.

Today, EXOS continued a strong tradition of training the #1 overall NFL Draft pick with the selection of Jadeveon Clowney (DE, South Carolina) by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft. The #2 overall pick, Greg Robinson (OL, Auburn) selected by the St. Louis Rams, and the #3 overall pick, Blake Bortles (QB, Central Florida) selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars, were also supported by EXOS during their preparation for the Combine and their Pro Days.

Clowney was one of 11 EXOS-supported athletes selected in the first round, bringing EXOS’ total supported first round NFL Draft picks to 105.
